It looks like the TRU Bookstore is making it easier for students to select how they would like to receive their textbooks - see the supplied link on "Jumpbooks..."

I think it'd be great to have the option of having an textbook available in ebook form. With tablet pcs becoming more popular, it will only be a few years before a majority of university students own one. Instead of discussing the negative aspects of e-readers, it would be nice to see more publishing companies and institutes embracing the new technology. New technologies, whether staying, dying out, or evolving, are what allows the discovery and development of new ways of providing education. It is important to remember that Youtube once was considered useful only for uploading home movies and pirated copies of movies. Now universities use it for professors giving lectures to students half a world away, further shrinking the world and providing a different way of approaching education.

Nice article about e-readers. I had no idea that companies could view the comments you add, although I'm not entirely surprised either. As someone interested in e-readers, but has not yet made the leap, I have been looking into how different readers support pdf files. As I a student I often have multiple articles on the go for my papers and would love something I could use (and make notes on...a crucial feature) on my commute to school/work. Perhaps you could address this in a future article?
