Higher education is typically a serious business. So you may wonder why Open Learning’s new recruitment video features animated characters.
Describing all the advantages of Open Learning in a single video is a challenge. Through distance education, TRU-OL can offer many additional options to the programs available on the TRU campus, such as credit for prior work experience, as well as flexible start and completion dates. As a result, the student demographic at Open Learning varies widely: from full-time students recently graduated from high school, to part-time students returning to school, to full-time employees upgrading their career one course at a time.
We wanted our video to be as non-traditional as our flexible learning options and the students who take advantage of them. We hope you enjoy it.

The short animation video is an excellent promotion about what TRU-OL offers to individuals who want to get a degree for personal and professional growth and development at their own pace and work, family, and personal circumstances. More importantly, the animation film clip is using current medium for advertising and hence more accessible to a wider segment of young learners.
I ENJOYED the video. AND I (as a math OLFM) concur with the words found on the side-panel: “you find it easier to unload the dishwasher than to determine the value of X and Y. ” Interesting site. I hope that will potential students will find it.

hi,
would like to ask if you offer free ESL program like douglas college B.C?
Hi Jessica,
The ESL programs are offered on the TRU campus in Kamloops. If you visit this website, it describes the ESL options available. Good luck, and thanks for getting in touch! http://www.tru.ca/hse/programs/esl.html
I am still wondering, why this video uses such a strong sexist language? It implies that the viewer could be a “mom” or a “student”(not mom yet). I have a feeling that this video is intended exclusively for women audience. Is this website also a women-only? In that case I am sorry for the intrusion and the comment.
